Her Dream Vacation
8 nights | 9 days | $5,995 | Limit 10 women | 6 women minimum

Dreaming of the timeless history and beauty of a Sicilian vacation? On this Her Dream Vacation favorite women-only tour we will journey through the eastern splendors of Sicily, where we will explore one of the largest islands in the Mediterranean Sea.

Sicily is a multi-cultural exotic island, thanks to thousands of years of history. The island has been a stepping stone for several empires and conquests. Many influences of the Greeks, Arabs, and Northern Europeans as well as Italians are evident throughout this beautiful island.

Separated from mainland Italy by the 4km-wide Stretto di Messina, Sicily has a separate and palpable beauty of her own. It is a captivating women’s only tour experience, blending the best of different cultures.

Our days will be spent strolling through small towns and villages with compelling art and architecture, and outstanding ruins. We may even believe that we are either in Rome or Athens but not in Sicily! An amazing cultural visit exploring the antiquities of a by gone civilization.

We will make our way by coast to the dreamy slopes of Mt Etna and to the intimidating headlands of Palermo. The gentle agricultural landscapes of the east – all surrounded by sparkling blue seas and beaches will entice you to take that daring Mediterranean swim!

Sicilians are a passionate people, and their warmth and hospitality will make you feel as if you, yourself, are Sicilian! There is a whole new world to explore and food lovers will be living their dream. Tantalizing local cuisine and wines are unique to beautiful Sicily. Aside from the daily tours, walks and exploration, we will eat and drink well!

On this amazing Women Only Tour to Sicily and dream vacation, we will be in one of the most fascinating and coveted regions in Italy. Don’t you want to explore Sicily with a lovely group of women and get to know the locals? You will leave this dream vacation with new friends, fond memories and a dream to visit again and again.

Day 1 - Siracusa: Benevenuto!

You will arrive in Catania where you will be met by your driver at Catania International Airport. From there you will travel to the splendid Ortigia Island, the heart of Siracusa.

Cobblestone streets, baroque palaces, and churches, all in a central location. We will be in Siracusa for three nights, staying in a lovely boutique hotel.

Once settled in, we will gather for a welcome celebration in anticipation of getting to know exotic Sicily, each other and our week ahead..

Day 2 - Ortigia, Neapolis, Boats & Puppets

After a delicious breakfast, we will enjoy a guided tour of the splendid UNESCO site Siracusa. Once a major outpost of the Greek empire, Siracusa boasts an incredible historical heritage.

Our Greek Sicilian adventure will begin from an archaeological park, featuring the ancient amphitheater where Plato once appeared. We will explore the ancient city of Siracusa by foot with a local guide who will share stories, history and facts about the local architecture, archaeology and the people of years gone by.

Although many of the historic structures are surrounded by more recent buildings, there are still considerable remains of historic structures. We will visit the archaeological area of Neapolis and on the promontory of Ortigia. The elegance of Baroque town houses, rebuilt after the earthquake that severely damaged the city in 1693, will delight you.

Sicilian traditions are experienced first-hand by an infamous Sicilian Puppet Show, and a boat trip around the island of Ortigia (weather permitting). Dinner is on your own or with your new traveling friends.

*Breakfast

Day 3 - Ragusa & Modica: We live for chocolate!

This morning begins a full day journey with our personal driver to discover and explore the splendid Sicilian Baroque towns of Ragusa and Modica, UNESCO World Heritage sites.

One of the most charming and picturesque hill towns in Sicily, Ragusa, is divided into two parts: the ancient Ragusa Ibla and the modern section where most of the population currently reside. The ancient Ragusa Ibla is known for its labyrinth of crooked lanes, cobblestone streets, tiny squares, and imperial piazzas.

The day continues to Modica, the splendid “one hundred churches town” where we will a visit to a local confectionery to sample the chocolate Modicano – for which the town is worldwide famous! Chocolate before dinner – A travelers dream come true!

*Breakfast

Day 4 - Catania, Cyclops Coastline & Giardini Naxos

This morning, we pack up and after breakfast we will drive from Siracusa to the lovely town of Taormina. This is one of Sicily’s most ancient towns and most beautiful destinations.

We will stop en-route along the beautiful CYCLOPS COASTLINE through Acitrezza & Acicastello, with its Medieval Norman Castle built in 1076 on a prehistoric basalt lava terrace. As you gaze dreamily out over the Ionian Sea, you will see the Rocks of the Cyclops, imposing, spiky shards of black lava that rises up from the water.

We will then stop in Catania and to the charming fishing village of Giardini Naxos, the site of the first Greek settlement in Sicily. You can walk on the golden sandy beach or choose to spend the afternoon shopping in the town.

By late afternoon we will arrive the charming town of Taormina where we will spend the last 5 nights in a central, intimate boutique hotel.

The evening will be on your own to explore.

Day 5 - Taormina: Home is Where the Heart Is!

This morning we will have a beautifully crafted tour of Taormina. This amazing city’s origin goes back to the time of Dionysius in about 400 BC.

It has remained an important city during the Greek and Roman periods of world history with the Theatre and Odeon surviving as reminders of tragic times. Taormina boasts a number of elegant mansions and palaces dating back from the Middle Ages.

Strolling cobblestones streets, we will visit some incredible churches including a 15th century fortified cathedral, and St Pancras’. After a wonderful visit in Taormina, we will drive to the hill-top town of Castelmola, and take in the most amazing views over the mainland of Italy.

There will be time for shopping and for tasting the local almond wine before heading to Mitogia, a lovely, quaint village located near the Alcantara Gorges. We will share the afternoon with a local Sicilian family who will welcome us into their home for a lovely lunch and a lively cooking lesson. Of course, there will be local wine, breads, cheeses and olives!

*Breakfast, Lunch

Day 6 - Majestic Mount Etna: Plus Wine for Women

After breakfast, we’ll explore majestic Mount Etna, known to the Greeks as the “column that holds up the sky." Mt. Etna is the highest and largest volcano in Europe and also one of the world’s most active. The peak actually changes in size over the years and it will be burnished in your memories forever.

It currently rises at 11,000 feet above sea level and literally towers above Sicily’s Ionian coast. The slopes have been part of the Etna Parkland, an area that encompasses both alpine forests and the forbiddingly black summit.

We will ascend to 7,000 ft. and take a walk to visit the Silvestri Craters and new lava flow from recent eruptions. To celebrate the majestic Mt. Etna, we will share in a tasting of local Etna wine. The tasting will be followed by a trip to the village of Linguaglossa to visit a Sicilian vineyard, taste more wines, and enjoy a light lunch.

*Breakfast, Lunch

Day 7 - The Footsteps of The Godfather

This morning we will begin our day with a short drive to the picturesque mountain village of Savoca, & Forza D’Agro’ set on the foothills of the Peloritani Mountains.

These sites were the settings for Francis Ford Coppola’s mafia drama The Godfather. (Yes, THAT Godfather!)

While in Savoca, we will visit the notorious 18th century Bar Vitelli, one of Coppola’s favorite spots and the church of St. Lucia.

Afterwards, we continue to Forza d’Agro another small hilltop village where life seems to have stopped 70 years ago. History, a movie, beautiful settings…. Where has the day gone?

Day 8 - Off to Market We Will Go

As all good things must come to an end, today is our last day of our Sicily Vacation.

Today we will prepare our last meal, and we will be learning to cook some delicious food and take home a skill instead of just souvenirs.

After a tour of the town’s market, where the ingredients for the day will be bought fresh, we’ll cook delicious Sicilian food from a master chef.

There will be tastings at the market of local cheeses and salamis. A professional sommelier will be on hand to tell us about the history and culture of wine in Sicily. The Sommelier will guide us in making selections for wine that we can bring or send home.

After our beautiful lunch and lesson, there will be time for additional last minute shopping. Tonight we will have a farewell toast to beautiful Sicily, share our favorite moments and exchange goodbyes with our wonderful new friends.
