Dreaming of Scotland (with a wee bit of Outlander)-Oct. 9-Oct. 18, 2025

9 nights | 10 days | $6,195 | Limit 8 women | 4 women minimum

Please join Her Dream Vacation on a Dreaming of Scotland with a wee bit of Outlander dream vacation! We will visit a bonnie country where legends and myths endure. As we walk in the steps of Jamie and Claire, we will visit some of the Outlander series filming sites: Lallybroch, Wentworth Prison, Craig Na dun, Inverness, Castle Leoch, Fort William, Culloden and more!

We'll travel from the beautiful colorful hues of amazing landscapes to the battlefields of the Jacobites. If we’re lucky we may also come across a famous, long-sought-after monster!

You are invited to embrace the rugged beauty of Scotland during this 9-night, 10-day dream vacation that includes grand castles, bloody battles and perfect villages. We will visit the cities of Glasgow, Inverness, Pitlochry, and Edinburgh and several small villages in between. *Note this is a suggested itinerary. It may change due to unforeseen circumstances, weather and the needs of the registered group.

Day 1 - Welcome to Glasgow!

You will be met at the airport upon arrival and brought to your historic city-center hotel.

You will have time to settle in before we meet for a champagne toast and early dinner.

Our welcome dinner will be at a festive local restaurant, where we’ll have a chance to get to know each other and talk about our upcoming Scottish and Outlander adventures. Slainte!

*Welcome Dinner

Day 2 - Glasgow: Let's follow in the footsteps of Jamie and Claire!

We will meet after breakfast and begin our first day of visiting the filming sites of the Outlander TV series. These historical sites are not only a part of the series, doubling as the fictional land of Claire and Jamie, but an integral part of the heritage of Scotland.

We will begin at Glasgow Cathedral from Season 2, which is the hospital setting where Claire does her volunteer work. Then we're off to Stirling Castle, then Doune Castle, home of Colum MacKenzie (Season 1) and a former royal residence. After a stop for a quick lunch and a wee dram, we will head to Tibbermore Church, the scene of the infamous with trial with Geillis. (Season 1). Then we meander onto Falkland (Seasons 1 and 2) and ending our day with the famous Kelpies!

*Breakfast, Lunch

Day 3 - Coming into Sight of Inverness

This morning, we will meet after breakfast and make our way by train to Inverness for our next two nights. After a lovely sunset walk and exploring, we will enjoy an evening with Scottish musicians at a favorite local pub.

*Breakfast

Day 4 - Inverness: Sing me a song of a lass that is gone

After an early morning breakfast, we will travel to the iconic Isle of Skye, famous for its dramatic mountain scenery, picturesque seascapes and prehistoric past.

We will travel along the shores of Loch Ness, past the Five Sisters mountain range until we reach the Eilean Donan Castle, one of Scotland’s most magical sights. After touring the castle, we’ll cross “over the sea to Skye” by way of the road bridge.

As we travel through the island, you will be in awe of the jugged ridges dropping to the gentle beaches. We will pass by the many inlets, bays and islands which create a complex pattern with the sea and views that go on forever. After some free time in Isle of Skye’s capital, Portree, we will continue to tour the island, stopping to enjoy dramatic views and the atmospheric little villages before we return to Inverness.

(This day may be substituted with the Jacobite Steam Train roundtrip excursion. Subject to weather conditions.)

*Breakfast, Lunch

Day 5 - Pitlochry: Highland Nights and Marching Bands

We will be met this morning by a private driver as we make our way to Pitlochry.

Along the way we will visit Culloden Battlefield and Clava Cairns.

Will you time travel through the standing stones? With a stop for whisky and a bit of shopping, we will arrive to Pitlochry in time for a Highlands Parade! Put on your marching shoes!

*Breakfast, Dinner

Day 6 - Pitlochry: Take Care of YOU!

After a leisurely morning, you may opt for a spa service or a whisky tour…or just do nothing.

The hotel is a lovely spot for meandering and taking in the amenities.

A short walk into the village for a late afternoon lunch or an early evening dinner with a local theatre presentation may be what you decide for later on!

*Breakfast

Day 7 - Edinburgh - A Beautiful City to Take In

If you love bookstores, we will be taking a train from Pitlochry to Edinburgh. The train station features a bookshop that is run by volunteers, with the proceeds benefiting local charities. Books are donated and bought by visitors from around the world. But don’t miss the train! We depart by train, where we will arrive in Edinburgh in time for a late afternoon walk and early pub dinner.

Edinburgh is a historic and cosmopolitan city and the capital of Scotland. It's a striking city setting, perched on several extinct volcanoes and rocky crags which rise from the flat landscape of the Lothian’s and sheltered by the Firth of Forth shoreline to the north.

Along the historical sights, we will witness a modern, dynamic capital featuring many international festivals attracting the world’s leading performers. There are art galleries displaying cutting-edge art, and upscale restaurants and clubs creating a lively, cosmopolitan atmosphere with a distinct Scottish twist. "Edinburgh," said writer Robert Louis Stevenson, "is what Paris ought to be ’yet others claim it is the Ancient Athens of the United Kingdom."

*Breakfast

Day 8 - Edinburgh - and time travel!

More of Outlander, as we take a short train ride to Linlithgow this morning where we will meet with a local Outlander expert and hear more stories about the actors, the sets and the parties of the Outlander cast!

Then off we will go to Linlithgow Palace which was used as Wentworth Prison, where Jamie was imprisoned. (Season 1).

The palace is the royal residence of the Stewart kings and queens and the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots. You will fall in love with his wonderful 15th century site. It oozes with charm and glamour! We will embark upon our journey to Lallybroch, home of the Frasers' Blackness Castle (Season 1 and 2), the Fort William headquarters for Black Jack.

One of the finest examples of Scotland’s architecture is Hopetoun House, which doubles as the house for the Duke of Sandringham, Claire’s Paris apartment, Hawkin’s estate and the stables of Helwater. (Seasons 1, 2, 3). You will not believe the vastness of the estate in comparison to the tiny bit you see on screen!

We finish off our day in Culross, a quaint example of how village life must have been (and the home of Geillis), before train back to Edinburgh. (Season 1 and 2). What a day of time travel!

*Breakfast, Lunch

Day 9 - Edinburgh - A Royal Day

After another full Scottish breakfast, we will set out to explore Edinburgh up close.

Beginning with the majestic Edinburgh Castle, the most famous and complex of all Scottish castles, we will arrive early to beat the crowds! The oldest part, St Margaret’s Chapel, dates from the 12th century; the Great Hall was erected by James IV in 1510; and the Half Moon Battery in the late 16th century.

We will also visit Mary King’s Close, a warren of subterranean streets frozen in time since the 17th century and buried beneath Edinburgh’s Royal Mile. After lunch, we will continue with the last of our Outlander tour as we make our way down the Royal Mile to the Palace of Holyroodhouse, where we’ll tour the State Apartments and the evocative ruins of the Holyrood Abbey.

Best known as the home of Mary, Queen of Scots, today the State Apartments are used regularly by Her Majesty The Queen for State ceremonies and official entertaining.

In the evening, we will enjoy our last Scottish dinner as we bid farewell to bonnie Scotland and the new friends we have made.

*Breakfast, Dinner

Day 10 - Depart Edinburgh - Fare Thee Well!

Departure days are not fun! But you will take home sweet memories and newly formed friendships! Fare thee well!
