The afternoon will be spent relaxing, taking in the scenery and remembering all of those Greek Gods you have dreamed about. We will whet our exploration appetite with an easy stroll through cobblestone streets reaching the Plaka in anticipation of the weekend festivities. There will be a lovely evening of ouzo, mezes and a rooftop evening view of the Acropolis.

After breakfast, we will meet our private guide and begin our walking tour at the new Acropolis Museum and then we will visit the Acropolis itself and its timeless temples of Parthenon, Erectheion and Athena Nike.

We will make a short climb up to the Hill of Philopappus to the imposing Roman period funeral monument and extensive views of Athens and Piraeus.

This is Good Friday (Megali Paraskevi) and it is a solemn day with some noon closings. We will experience processions, the smells of burning incense and the ringing of bells city wide. This will be the beginning of our immersion into the wonderful celebration of what is Greece.

*Breakfast, Lunch

Day 3 - Let the Festivities Begin!

This will be a morning of relaxation and catching up on any necessary rejuvenation needed for the Easter/Pascha festivities.

All day on Saturday, we will find the final preparations going on for the Greek Orthodox Easter services and the anticipation of midnight.

It will be quite beautiful and our guide from the previous day will have explained the traditions, the meaning of Orthodoxy and how it fits into modern civilization.

We will feast in a traditional Greek taverna in the city and be close to the Monastery where the Holy Light arrives from Jerusalem. Be prepared for all serendipitous and uplifting moments of the celebrations. The atmosphere will be full of magic, scents from the sacred rocks of the Acropolis.

You can choose to participate in the Easter celebrations within the Monastery for an incredible sacred experience, or remain in the Plaka. During the Easter service, the lights will be turned off and each of us will have a candle and the Holy light will be passed.

At midnight, the Priest will sing “Christ is Risen” …..church bells, fireworks and cracking of eggs.

Yes, eggs! Xristos Anesti!

*Breakfast, Late Dinner

Day 4 - Syntagma Square, National Gardens and More

This is a day of celebration with Greek customs. After breakfast we will make our way to Syntagma Square where we will enjoy the changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Most sites are closed on this day and the city is empty with the locals who have headed to their villages or islands for their family celebrations. A perfect day for exploring! We'll walk through the National Gardens, the Temple of Zeus and the Panathinaicos Stadium: home of the first modern day Olympics.

*Breakfast, Traditional Easter Lunch

Day 5 - Athens-Napflio: Ancient Corinth

After breakfast, we will depart Athens via private luxe transportation and drive through Ancient Corinth and the Canal for a visit to Mycenae and the Epidaurus theatre.

The Ancient Greeks had slaves drag boats across the narrow spit of land that separated the Aegean Sea from the Adriatic Sea; modern man has created a canal to allow ships to pass.

The Corinth Canal is a wonder of modern engineering ; we will stop here for a short time to take in this modern marvel as we travel to Napflio, once the capital of Greece. Along the way to Napflio, we will stop for wine tasting and lunch in a small Greek village before we reach Epidaurus.

Epidaurus has a must-see, incredible amphitheater. This well-preserved site, built over 2,000 years ago, has some of the most perfect acoustics you will ever experience. Someone standing on the stage can be heard whispering from the back row. This is your opportunity for an encore performance!

It will be an amazing experience before we spend the evening in the beautiful town of Napflio. Once in Napflio, the first capital of Greece, we will stroll along the promenade gazing at Greek, Venetian and Turkish architecture before having a seaside dinner and spending the night in a lovely seaside hotel.

*Breakfast, Lunch

Day 6 - Nafplio-Olympia-Delphi

This morning will be a quick start to make our way to Olympia, home of the Olympic games and the site where the flame for every Modern Olympic Games torch is lit. Along the way we will also visit Ancient Mycenae, home to some of the oldest civilizations found in Greece.

The home of the lauded King Agamemnon, this ancient site was once one of the most important centers of the Bronze Age.

The famous Lions Gate is the crown jewel of this archaeological site that you will have the chance to explore before grabbing lunch on your own. After lunch, we will continue from Rion to Antirion on the new, “state of the art” suspended bridge, considered to be the longest and most modern in Europe.

We will arrive in Delphi in time for a beautiful sunset and a lovely dinner in a local restaurant in the nearby village of Arachova.

*Breakfast, Dinner

Day 7 - Delphi and Meteora

Today will be one of the more memorable days of your visit to Greece. After breakfast, we will visit the beautiful Sanctuary at Delphi, one of the most sacred and beautiful ancient sites in Greece.

Nestled high in the hills at the foot of Mount Parnassos, Delphi has been part of the Greek psyche for many centuries, being home to the famous oracle and the vestal virgins who used to tend to the Temple. You will spend the morning discovering this fascinating ancient site for yourself with an introduction by our private guide.

You can spend as much time as you want at the ruins of the temples, bath houses, and the well preserved amphitheater or you can head directly to the Delphi Archaeological Museum with its fascinating array of artifacts.

Around lunchtime, we will make our way to the town of Kalambaka, traveling through the towns of Amphissa, Lamia and Trikala on the way.

The landscape changes as you travel north, the mountains become starker and the land more lush. Arriving in Kalambaka, and hopefully for time to visit one monastery before sunset, you will witness breathtaking mountains, home to the most awesome Monasteries in the world. After a local taverna dinner, Kalambaka’s nightlife can be explored.

*Breakfast

Day 8 - The Monasteries of Meteora

Waking in Kalambaka in the shadow of the mountains, we will spend the morning at one of the most unique places on the planet. After an early breakfast, we may decide to walk to our first Monastery or have our driver lead the way up the windy mountain to the site of the Monasteries at Meteroa, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Meteora means “suspended in air” which is literally how most see these monasteries, perched high up on the sheer cliff and mountain faces, and still home to many monks.

In late afternoon, we will leisurely depart for Athens, making stops along the way.

*Breakfast
